Snuggles

I woke up groggily. No desire to awake and acknowledge Thursday had arrived. I heard no alarm noise or even Naomi asking me to help with the girls. Today I awoke to one little girl crawling in under the covers and burrowing into the warmth and contentment of my arms. How could anyone refuse such an adorable unspoken request. This is not all that unusual. However, today... today Annaka was very keen on snuggling (my favorite). There are not many things that are better than a blissful cuddling while you drift along the edge sleep. No kicking, wiggling or "Daddy will you hold my baby please", just warmth and contentment.

As I said before, there are not many things better than one little snuggly girl. However, today I was blessed enough to experience one. With Annaka all tucked in on one side I became aware of another little bundle fighting her own fight against the morning wake up. Adelyn had come to rest with her head perpendicular to mine and curled around the side of my shoulder. I figured at this point that my rest time was short. I could hear Adelyn going through her start up procedure. Little cooing sounds marked this little pilot going through her preflight checklist. She was awake. Yet..., she did not get up and call for clearance from the tower. Instead, for a few blissful minutes, she just cooed softly and snuggled against me. I pulled her in under my arm. There, two little girls snuggled in. I think today will be a wonderful day no matter how cold and gray outside. It is warm here.. inside.

I hope someone snuggled you today... if not, there is always tomorrow.

Wow! That is a special morning. My snuggles are always interrupted by a change in position, which inevitably ends up with me getting kicked or by a whisper of "mommy...foood!" Unless Hannah is sick...that is the only time you can get long periods of uninterrupted snuggle time.
