Gardening 3 and 1 Year Old Style

Caleb and I have been fortunate to be blessed with good land that we have put a nice garden on. Things grow pretty well up here considering the close mountain behind our house. If our season hadn't been so wet and cold until mid July I think we may have done even better. (The poor melons.)

Part of my daily routine is to take the girls out to the garden to water and take care of little things here and there. As I weed, the girls help too.

Annaka is helping herself to the chard while Adelyn pulls at the leaves and rips them up leaving a pile of shredded greens. Otherwise, they roam around chasing the chickens out of the garden, pick peas, strawberries, and carrots or just get dirty. Here are a few more pictures.

Come by and pick some swiss chard or a zucchini... please...

Chocolate

You may have read one of my earlier posts about Annaka and chocolate and how these two find each other. Well, it seems Adelyn also has the 6th sense about chocolate locations.

A few weekends ago I got to go up to Curlew to spend some time with my parents while Caleb was off backpacking. Grandma had pulled the entire contents of the pantry out and was cleaning and making room for some new items. Meanwhile, Adelyn had found the one lonely dark (70%) chocolate bar that was somewhere in the pile. I'm not even sure how she would have known what was inside! She removed the paper and tore enough of the foil off to start snacking away. This is her and her pantry loot.

Notice the paper wrapper lying on the steps just below her. It's not even ripped. What I don't have are the pictures of her pitching a fit as I pried the bar out of her hands.

Chocolate beware... my girls will find you.

A Day at the Beach

t wasn't a very nice day but the pictures don't really show it! I'm doing a little catch up with pictures so this is from sometime mid July.
